New details have emerged on former WWE star Metalik reportedly refusing to lose in AEW.

Dave Meltzer reported in the 13 November Wrestling Observer Newsletter that a planned Kommander vs. Meltaik match was pulled from the 27 October episode of AEW Rampage as Metalik declined to put Kommander over. Despite this, 'The King of the Ropes' still worked an ROH taping a few days later, even though the situation "... can't have helped his standing [in AEW."

Fightful Select has since reported that rather than a Metalik vs. Kommander one-on-one, the 27 October Rampage was to feature a four-way between Metalik, Kommander, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Lince Dorado. This then became a three-way due to Dorado's CMLL ties.

Metalik was booked to lose this match, though he didn't want to keep taking defeats without being contracted to AEW full-time. The promotion understood the high-flyer's position, instead booking Konosuke Takeshita vs. Kyle Fletcher for the show.

On Saturday, Meltaik used X to deny refusing to lose, saying (via Google Translate):

I have never refused to lose to anyone, this is business and for a reason I have been in the best companies. But my career has cost me komander, he is one of the young men whom I respect, he is a good boy, things are not as mentioned at this point, I am not interested in explaining.

Metalik has worked 12 matches in Tony Khan's group of promotions in 2023, going 0-2 in AEW and 3-8 in ROH.
