People within WWE would be surprised to see Edge wrestle outside the promotion whenever he decides to step away from the market leaders.

WrestleVotes and GiveMeSport have reported as much, touching on speculation that the veteran could retire in Toronto, Ontario, Canada this summer. These rumours have persisted since August 2022, when Edge claimed, in a post-Raw promo, that he and Toronto could "say goodbye to each other" when WWE returned to the city in 2023.

Per WrestleVotes/GMS:-

If he retires the summer in Toronto, I wouldn't be surprised. I would be surprised if he finishes his current deal and then goes to AEW, WWE would be surprised too. Even though you've got Christian factor, you know, they could team one more time and wrestle each other one more time, I'd be surprised if he wrestles past WWE. WWE would be very surprised as well.

That Edge seeks one last run with long-time tag team partner and real-life friend Christian Cage remains another popular rumour. Cage is currently active in AEW, where he is about to be re-established as Luchasaurus' manager following an impactful loss to Jungle Boy at Revolution 2023 last month.

Edge was reported to have signed a three-year deal with WWE upon returning in 2020. Whether or not time has been added to the term for the torn triceps that sidelined Edge between April 2020 and January 2021 is unclear.
