Rhodes and Lesnar are due to collide at SummerSlam 2023 on Saturday (5 August). Unless something changes, Fightful Select reports that it will be a regular one-on-one match, with no stipulation.

The outlet states that no pitches were made for Lesnar/Rhodes to become a gimmick match, nor was anything "considered heavily." This is despite rumours to the contrary.

One specific point of speculation suggested a dog collar match had been pitched for Lesnar/Rhodes - and turned down. Sources from both parties have indicated that the idea didn't get further than somebody questioning if a dog collar would be necessary. After that, it wasn't mentioned again.

Rhodes and Lesnar's SummerSlam match will be their third in 2023 so far. Cody took the first point, rolling 'The Beast Incarnate' into the pinfall at Backlash (6 May), though the duo went 1-1 when Rhodes was forced into a defeat via referee's stoppage at Night of Champions later that month.

Along with Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor, Rhodes vs. Lesnar completes SummerSlam 2023's trio of main events.
