Latest On WWE's Main Roster Plans For Imperium
What next for Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci after WWE Clash At The Castle?
Imperium's WWE Clash At The Castle reunion wasn't a one-off.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson notes that following the 3 September premium live event, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci are now listed as a tag team on WWE's internal SmackDown roster. This would suggest that Vinci's surprise appearance alongside Kaiser accompanying Gunther to the ring at Clash represented a call-up from NXT 2.0.
Kaiser, who wrestles and serves as Gunther's mouthpiece, introduced Vinci prior to Gunther's acclaimed Intercontinental Title match with Sheamus. Gunther was then announced as "the leader of Imperium", with the trio appearing on television together for the first time since April.
Along with Brawling Brutes members Butch and Ridge Holland, Kaiser and Vinci brawled away from ringside before Gunther vs. Sheamus started in earnest.
Formerly Fabian Aichner, Vinci had been repackaged as NXT 2.0's "Giovanni Vinci" when Kaiser and Gunther were promoted to SmackDown without him on the blue brand's 8 April episode. Though he retained his new ring name at Clash At The Castle, he appeared to have abandoned all signs of his Gucci-inspired gimmick, reverting to his older, more serious persona.
Pre-split, Gunther, Vinci, and Kaiser had been united as Imperium since May 2019.
