It's fair to say that Bray Wyatt's return cast a spell over the WWE universe.

His Firefly Funhouse vignettes, seemingly set within his own tortured mind as he dealt with the betrayals and defeats that left him alone. The puppets, each of which tied into past incarnations of himself or those powers surrounding him. The way each episode's title linked back to promos he'd given in the years before. Even the way the dual nature of the Funhouse seemed to mirror the duplicity of supposedly PG sports entertainment. But, if there was one thing that captured the imagination of the audience even more than everything else, it had to be The Fiend.

Introduced as a protector of the Funhouse and a personification of Wyatt's own darkness that he'd managed to harness, The Fiend first showed up in the third episode of Firefly Funhouse. It wouldn't be long before the demonic circus ringmaster would start hunting legends of the business and those that Wyatt had fought in extended feuds during his last life as The Eater Of Worlds.

A supernatural being that can initiate face and heel turns in those he fights, The Fiend seems almost invulnerable in the ring. Finisher after finisher can be used against him, only for this monster to pop back up to its feet before its opponents can even reach for a cover.
