More last-minute Vince McMahon tinkering had a major impact on WWE Raw...
WWE Raw was again the subject of Vince McMahon-led changes this week, with the Executive Chairman pulling strings remotely, resulting in backstage unhappiness.
PWInsider broke the news of the changes on Monday evening, though details of what, exactly, had been scrapped or switched weren't clear. Fightful Select has now filled in those gaps.
Raw experience the following changes on Monday:-
- Piper Niven vs. Candice LeRae and a backstage segment featuring both wrestlers and Trish Stratus were pulled from the card, despite both featuring on rundowns circulated an hour prior to the broadcast.
- Street Profits vs. Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin was added to the card, replacing the above.
- Mustafa Ali vs. Chad Gable had minutes trimmed, despite only being scheduled for a single segment.
- Unspecified matches had time cut and/or the winners/losers changed.
- A planned backstage segment featuring the women's division and Adam Pearce was altered.
Fightful notes, too, that although the rest of Raw's matches were originally scheduled, there were "plenty of changes" on the night, with the lineup not posted backstage until late on.
That the women's division have become vocal about their content being cut from the show is also mentioned in the report. This follows similar from PWInsider, who noted unhappiness in the division last week, coming as a consequence of multiple backstage segments being scrapped - including one that had already been filmed.
McMahon, 77, has regained the final say on all things WWE creative in the wake of the company's Endeavor buyout, though Paul 'Triple H' Levesque remains the promotion's Chief Content Officer.
