There is no concrete decision on just who will win the Best-Of-Seven series for the AEW Trios Championships on next week's edition of Dynamite.

Current Champions Death Triangle and former and inuagral titleholders The Elite are tied at three falls each going into the Escalera De La Muerte finale on January 11th, with many assuming from the beginning that Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks will take the gold and pick back up where they left off before their post-All Out 2022 suspension.

But internally, apparently nothing is set in stone. This is according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, who reported that (h/t WrestlingInc);

"There are differences of opinion over who should win match seven...You really want really big stars to have those belts. A championship that's being established without really big stars, there's a million belts, it's gonna mean nothing, especially with the six-man which has been a struggle...But most people who watch American wrestling fans have not seen it [a trios Championship]...Dallas was decades ago and when Crockett had them it was The Road Warriors and Dusty Rhodes and big, big stars and that's why it meant something. It could go either way. I think Tony wants The Young Bucks to win but I don't know that 100%."

The series took a one-week break on January 4th to accommodate Kenny Omega's incredible Wrestle Kingdom 17 showdown with Will Ospreay for New Japan Pro Wrestling. There has only been one prior Escalera De La Muerte match in AEW history - the All Out 2019 war between The Young Bucks and The Lucha Bros, won by the latter.
