Major AEW Star Suffers Injury During Last Night's Dynamite
Yet another huge AEW name could be set for a spell on the sidelines...
With AEW already having several names out of action, Matt Jackson reportedly suffered an injury during the main event of last night's AEW Dynamite. There, the Young Bucks lost the AEW Tag Team Titles to Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland in a match also featuring the Team Taz tandem of Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs.
As per Bryan Alvarez on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, the belief is that this undisclosed injury occurred when Matt was hit by a stalling vertical suplex from Hobbs and Lee. Jackson would continue the bout, dropkicking Limitless from the ring before tagging himself out for Starks.
While it isn't known if this is related or not, the latest WOR outing saw Dave Meltzer add how Matt Jackson has been dealing with significant neck issues dating back to the Young Bucks vs. Lucha Bros. cage match at All Out last September.
There's no word on how serious this injury is for Matt or whether he'll have to miss any ring time, but it would clearly be a major blow for AEW to have yet another one of its top names on the sidelines.
At present, Tony Khan's promotion already has CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Kenny Omega, Jungle Boy, Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Lee Johnson, Red Velvet, Darius Martin and Leyla Hirsch amongst those out with injuries. Added to that, Jeff Hardy is currently serving a suspension after his latest DUI arrest.
