With WWE talent and on-air personalities referring to SmackDown's top men's prize by a few different names lately, it appears that the title held by Cody Rhodes has now had a formal name change.

In the possession of Roman Reigns, this prize was known as the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, with the Tribal Chief having unified the WWE Championship and WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 38. While Roman spent a fair amount of time carrying around those two belts as part of his Undisputed WWE Universal Champion reign, June 2023 saw him presented with a new singular belt to represent his status as Undisputed WWE Universal Champ.

However, the official roster page on WWE.com now lists Cody Rhodes as the Undisputed WWE Champion, with the Universal element having seemingly been dropped.

This comes on the heels of the American Nightmare having been referred to as the Undisputed WWE Champion, Undisputed Champion, and simply the WWE Champion on WWE programming in the aftermath of WrestleMania XL.
