In a completely natural and organic move given the way their crowd reactions have been trending as of late, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti appeared to turn heel on last night's episode of AEW Dynamite.

Formerly babyfaces, Guevara and Conti have faced increasingly negative responses from the audience since being paired together on television. Their position as faces had become so untenable that even Dan Lambert, who is supposed to represent the antithesis of AEW's core values, was drawing cheers against them. Now, AEW is embracing that.

The couple cut an all-out heel promo last night. Having retaken the TNT Title from Scorpio Sky via low blow at Battle of the Belts II, Guevara embraced those who still cheered him, but ripped the people who'd turned against him, claiming they were jealous "because my girlfriend is hotter than yours." Playing up the obnoxious, good-looking couple aspect of their presentation, Conti and Sammy dropped their new catchphrase, "be mad", before Sky, Lambert, and Page hit the stage.

Sky, who had behaved like a pure babyface in a previous backstage segment with former SCU partner Frankie Kazarian, scored a TNT Title rematch out of this. In return, Conti and Guevara get their sought-after mixed tag team bout with American Top Team's Paige VanZant and another affiliate at a date to be confirmed.

Guevara vs. Sky III, a ladder match, takes place on next week's Dynamite.
