Is Kazuchika Okada about to sign for WWE?

Nobody has the answer as of yet, and despite swirling rumours of late that AEW were looking the more likely of the North American mainstream companies to get the iconic former IWGP Heavyweight Champion's signature, a prominent third party has potentially blown things wide open.

Pro Wrestling Tees boss Ryan Barkan posted through the company's VIP Facebook page that customers had just 12 hours left to buy 'Rainmaker' merchandise before the page no longer exists. As he put it;

"I was just told to remove all Okada merchandise from prowrestlingtees.com/okada. So If there was ever something you wanted you have 12 hours."

The Chicago-based print company has worked cordially with All Elite Wrestling since the company launched in 2019, having exploded in popularity thanks to The Elite/Bullet Club merchandise pioneered by the organisation's relationship with Colt Cabana. The speed and urgency of the messaging implies that perhaps an employer unaffiliated with the brand - WWE - would rather get the shirts off the market in order to get their own merchandise in order and out there per a new contract.

However.

It's also worth considering that this could be a pointed red herring should Okada have signed on the dotted line with AEW. Tony Khan knows that he has a plugged-in audience for this sort of messaging, and may be looking to both enhance the surprise and do some anti-marketing marketing akin to CM Punk's iconic "First Dance" debut in 2021.

The plot continues to thicken, but with Revolution in March and WrestleMania in April, it feels as though Okada's destination will be clear sooner rather than later.
