MAJOR Title Change On SmackDown Before WWE Money In The Bank 2024
Triple H made the call to switch some belts in Toronto on SmackDown pre-WWE MITB.
DIY beat Austin Theory and Grayson Waller to become the brand new WWE Tag-Team Champions on Friday night's episode of SmackDown in Toronto. This was a first big, dramatic moment of WWE's Money In The Bank 2024 weekend in the city, and it won't be the last.
Both teams were handed the distinction of headlining Friday's TV. They didn't disappoint, but there's some follow up coming - Theory and Waller have been going through a slow split for weeks. Now, after dropping the belts, A-Town Down Under will presumably break up for good, and Austin will turn babyface.
That's been on the cards for a while.
New champs DIY represent fine picks to supplant the heels, but WWE will have to drum up decent feuds for the pair if they're going to succeed as champions long-term. It'll be fun to find out what Triple H and his creative team have in mind for the workhorse duo going forwards.
Winning gold on the main roster will certainly mean a lot to Gargano and Ciampa personally.
