With Drew McIntyre having returned to action at last month's Royal Rumble premium live event, there now comes an update on the two-time WWE Champion's health and his likely WrestleMania 38 opponent.

For those unaware, McIntyre had been dealing with neck issues prior to the Rumble PPV, which is why he'd been absent from WWE programming in the weeks leading to that show. As per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Scot's neck is still not 100% yet, but WWE is planning to manage Drew accordingly.

That 'accordingly' means that McIntyre will only work TV events in the lead to WrestleMania 38, with him kept off non-televised live events in order to work a lighter schedule ahead of this year's Showcase of the Immortals.

With the former Chosen One confirmed to take on Madcap Moss at WWE Elimination Chamber on 19 February, the Observer adds that the current plan is for McIntyre to then go on to face Happy Corbin at WrestleMania 38.

Considering McIntyre's last two 'Mania outings saw him in WWE Title matches against Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, a bout against Happy Corbin maybe isn't what you'd expect for a talent who WWE has positioned as a main event star in the past few years.

Still, if rumblings are to believed, McIntyre could find himself battling Roman Reigns in the aftermath of WrestleMania 38, so that's something a little more positive for the 36-year-old.
