Major Update On MJF Throwing A Drink At A Child At AEW Revolution 2023
It wasn't a soft drink that Max threw a young fan's way at last night's PPV.
With Tony Khan having had a "serious conversation" with MJF after the Salt of the Earth threw a drink at a young fan at AEW Revolution last night, there now comes a further update on this matter.
As per the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, the drink thrown in the child's face was said to be tequila.
For those who missed Revolution, this all happened midway through MJF's AEW World Title defence against Bryan Danielson. With the pair fighting out in the crowd, Max grabbed a drink from a woman and threw it on the boy stood next to her.
Detailed by Tony Khan during the post-Revolution media scrum, that boy was named Titus. Speaking on WOR, Bryan Alvarez confirmed that Titus was not a plant and this was not a pre-planned spot, and that the drink involved was, unbeknownst to MJF, actually tequila.
Prior reports stated that Amanda Huber - who serves as AEW's Community Outreach Manager - went out to comfort Titus and his family, then they were brought backstage and given free merchandise, invited to an upcoming AEW event in Sacramento, and the youngster was able to meet some of the AEW roster during his time backstage.
Those initial reports also noted how Titus and his family were initially "very upset", and this WOR update adds that the drink burnt Titus' eyes.
When this topic came up during the post-PPV presser, MJF explained that he thought "the kid looked thirsty".
As for his actual match at Revolution, Friedman retained the AEW World Championship by 4-3 against the American Dragon. With the contest tied at 3-3 after 60 minutes, sudden death saw Max score the win by making Danielson tap out to the LaBell Lock after he'd first hit him with an oxygen tank.
