Major Update On Roman Reigns' Injury Following WWE SummerSlam
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is hurt after SummerSlam, but how much time will he miss?
Roman Reigns is injured, but the knock won't delay or interfere with any current WWE/Bloodline plans.
Reigns will appear on Friday's SmackDown for a "Hail To The Chief" segment, ostensibly to bring together the frayed elements of the group following the events of SummerSlam, and as of now, the injury shouldn't force him to miss any other scheduled dates either.
This is according to Fightful Select, who corroborated the original report from the Wrestling Observer and noted that;.
"Tuesday morning, Wrestling Observer reported that Roman Reigns got hurt early in the match with Jey Uso at WWE SummerSlam. Fightful Select has since confirmed that news...After Summerslam, word came out that Reigns was not advertised for any WWE TV episodes over the next few months. However, we did confirm that Reigns was planned for this Friday's Smackdown, and as of now, there aren't plans for him to miss his internally scheduled appearances. That could always change."
The report added;
"There were those who would likely be in the know in a creative capacity for Smackdown who hadn't even heard about the injury until word emerged Tuesday. We're told that as of Tuesday afternoon, it hadn't changed creative."
It's not been publicly confirmed exactly how or where Reigns was hurt, though some Twitter sleuths believe it was from an Uso dive that sent 'The Tribal Chief' into the guardrail.
Reigns' reduced schedule makes a potential injury less of an inconvenience - SummerSlam was the first defence of his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship since a WrestleMania 39 win over Cody Rhodes, and has wrestled just five times total since 'The Show Of Shows' on April 2nd.
