WWE plans on booking Becky Lynch as SmackDown's top heel going forward.

This is according to PWInsider's Mike Johnson, who reports that Lynch's first feud following her divisive SummerSlam 2021 return will be Bianca Belair, whom she unseated as SmackDown Women's Champion in her first match since March 2020.

Belair was originally set to defend her belt against Sasha Banks on Saturday night. When WWE revealed Banks hadn't been cleared to compete, Carmella was brought out as a replacement. This turned out to be bait-and-switch, however, as Lynch's music hit for the first time since last May - and 'The Man' replaced Carmella after beating her up and throwing down the challenge.

Becky proceeded to squash Bianca in a matter of seconds, putting her down with a Uranage. Now, it seems, she is a heel.

Lynch rose to prominence as an organic folk hero in 2018, when she turned on Charlotte Flair to become one of the biggest stars in the company. Her ride took her to WrestleMania 35's main event and a simultaneous run with the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships after outdoing Flair and Ronda Rousey in New Jersey.

She has played a babyface ever since, and while SummerSlam sparked controversy, the heat was largely on the writers, not Lynch.
