Major WWE Stars Returning To TV "Very Soon" (WWE News)
A shock SummerSlam comeback could be on the cards for one or both of these WWE stars.
The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer is claiming that both Randy Orton and Kevin Owens could be set for major WWE TV returns "very soon". In the latest newsletter, Meltzer said that he's heard rumblings that Orton could even show up as soon as this weekend's SummerSlam PLE in Minneapolis.
Dave reckons Randy would poke his nose into the WWE Title bout between reigning champ CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. If so, he'd likely attack Cody as revenge for his loss back at WrestleMania 42 in April. That feels like it happened a lifetime ago now (and so does Orton's ill-fated on-screen alliance with Pat McAfee).
This ambush would give Rhodes an out in defeat, and it'd move him swiftly on to a rekindled program with 'The Viper'.
Meanwhile, KO is said to have "dropped weight after a lengthy and frustratingly long recovery from neck surgery". Owens has shown up sporadically for WWE, but only really on NXT or via special off-camera appearances. He's yet to appear on television in any meaningful capacity since going under the knife, but his return would be a welcome boost to the creative team.
Meltzer believes that Kev would interject in Sami Zayn's ongoing spiral into madness as he cries: "Justice For Sami". There's likely truth to that, because Owens and Zayn will be linked in some form or fashion until the end of time, and it'd make sense if he feuded with Kevin all over again heading into the final few months of the year or maybe even WrestleMania 43 season.
Of course, this all hinges on the health of both Orton and Owens as they ease their way back in.
