Mark Henry SHOOTS Hard On Lio Rush: "He's A Liar!"
'The World's Strongest Man' isn't happy with the troublesome Superstar...
Add WWE legend Mark Henry to the list of Superstars that Lio Rush has apparently run afoul of.
The 2018 Hall of Fame inductee gave an interview with SiriusXM's Busted Open Radio yesterday, during which he spoke openly on Rush's recent struggles, comparing Lio's situation to the one he faced upon signing with WWE in 1996.
On Rush's refusal to adhere to the longstanding backstage custom of junior locker-room members carrying water for veterans:-
"It's not a race issue. It's an ego issue. Who are you? Nobody is exempt from being respectful to the business and paying homage to the guys drawing money. We all have done it. Steve Austin did it. The Rock did it. You better than The Rock? Get the hell out of here!"
Wednesday saw 'The Man Of The Hour' tell Fightful Select that he didn't want to do such chores as a young Afircan-American male, as he felt it wasn't a good look for somebody with designs of becoming a top Superstar himself.
Henry went on to allege that not only is Lio being dishonest to the media, but he lied to his face on a couple of issues:-
“The reason that I’m angry is because I pull him aside and told him ‘Hey man I’m hearing stuff in the locker room, what’s up?’ (Rush’s voice) ‘Oh no, there’s nothing wrong.’ That’s a blatant lie to my face! I was trying to help him. I was trying to let him know that if you have a question to ask, now is the time because you’re very likely not going to run into anyone that knows the system like I know the system. And he didn’t do that. He lied to my face."
On Rush's suggestion that WWE don't pay him enough to cover his road expenses:-
"And if you’re walking around and cannot pay for a rental car, you can’t pay for a hotel with the money that you make every week? Then you need to change the way you are spending. You can’t blame that on the office. If you spent everything you made before you got it, that’s your problem.”
Finally, Henry commented on what would have happened to Bobby Lashley's former valet had he came through the ranks in a different era:-
“What Lio is doing is nothing different than what I did. He’s getting off very easy cause in my day they would have said ‘Hey Lio, Bobby should never drive. You should take his bags to the car. When he comes back from his match you should have a bottle of water for him when he walks through the curtain’.”
Rush is yet to respond to Henry's words, though the 24-year-old hasn't been shy of expressing himself lately. It'll be interesting to see if anything more comes of this.
