Matt Cardona Says "No" To Hype Bros Reunion Outside WWE
Don't expect to see Mojo Rawley and the former Zack Ryder teaming up anytime soon...
Matt Cardona isn't interested in reviving his old Hype Bros tag team with Mojo Rawley now that his former partner is a free agent.
When asked about the prospect on Twitter, the former Zack Ryder replied curtly:-
I certainly hope not https://t.co/F4luxLVQqo

Ouch.
WWE announce Rawley's release alongside nine other wrestlers on 15 April 2021, citing "budget cuts" as the reason. Interestingly, this was exactly one year to the date of Cardona's departure, as the former United States Champion was cut loose at the same time as dozens of other competitors and staff members in what was dubbed Black Wednesday.
Cardona has worked for AEW and IMPACT Wrestling since departing WWE, and wrestled his other former tag partner, Brian Myers (FKA Curt Hawkins), at Rebellion last night.
Rawley, meanwhile, has suggested that he will be free to do as he pleases from 31 May. This differs from the other WWE wrestlers released on 15 April, who are bound to 90-day non-compete clauses expiring on 14 July.
The Hype Bros came together in NXT in 2015 and lasted until November 2017, when Rawley turned heel on Ryder. Both struggled for television time as singles acts thereafter.
