Matt Cardona Wins Yet ANOTHER Wrestling World Title
Reigning NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Matt Cardona is becoming a gold magnet.
With Kenny Omega still sidelined through injury after dropping each of his world championships under different circumstances in 2021, Matt Cardona has assumed the AEW star's role as American wrestling's foremost bell collector.
This weekend saw the reigning NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion add yet another piece of hardware to his collection. Defeating Richard Holliday to become ASW Heavyweight Champion at the promotion's 16th anniversary event on 9 April, Cardona is now carrying seven straps around with him when he travels.
The independent star tweeted the following, celebrating his triumph:-
Omg! I’ve done it. I retained the @nwa Worlds Heavyweight Champion and become the NNNEEEWWW @aswwrestling Heavyweight Champion! I now have SEVEN titles! #StillHere #AlwayzReady pic.twitter.com/UAAFQk0Cgu

Matt's latest triumph means that the following titles are currently in his possession:-
- NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship
- AIW Absolute Championship
- AEW Intense Championship
- NYWC Heavyweight Championship
- Impact Wrestling Digital Media Championship
- ASW Heavyweight Championship
- Internet Championship
The latter, of course, is of his own creation, and effectively continues the lineage he established in WWE in the 2010s, when the organically become one of the most over wrestlers in the company for his work away from the television cameras.
Cardona has been a free agent since being released by WWE in April 2020, ending his 15-year run with the company. Clearly, things are working out for him.
