Matt Cardona's AEW Deal Has Expired
Cardona remains open to working with AEW again in the future.
Matt Cardona has told the Pro Wrestling Junkies podcast that his All Elite Wrestling deal expired at the All Out pay-per-view on 5 September.
Saying that he hopes his affiliation with the promotion lasts longer than the time taken to "get three t-shirts," Cardona claimed that he wants to work with AEW again in the future, adding that he would love to chase championships in Jacksonville.
Released by WWE as part of mass cuts on 15 April, Cardona debuted for AEW on the 29 July episode of Dynamite. Saving Cody from a Dark Order assault led to a tag match pitting him and 'The American Nightmare' against John Silver and Alex Reynolds the following week. The old friends were victorious, and Cardona stayed Cody-adjacent thereafter, playing a peripheral role in the then-TNT Champion's extended feud with Mr. Brodie Lee, culminating in an eight-man tag at All Out.
Wrestling Inc.'s Raj Giri reported shortly after the former Zack Ryder's debut that he had agreed to an initial five-appearance run with AEW, with scope for expansion in the future. Cardona had previously told the Not About Wrestling show that he aimed to be All Elite for the long haul.
