Mickie James Shoots HARD On WWE For Releasing Bray Wyatt
Mickie James held little back in her shocked reaction to Bray Wyatt's WWE release.
Mickie James was one of several wrestlers to tweet their shocked reactions to Bray Wyatt's surprising WWE release on 31 July, holding little back in a pointed critique of the company's handling of the situation.
WWE announced Wyatt had been let go via their standard "future endeavors" message on the company website. When this was automatically tweeted out, James dived in, ripping WWE for continuing to make money from Wyatt's character and ideas:-
I think what you meant to say was: “Thank you so much for coming up with such an incredible gimmick(time & time again)one so cool & over, we really didn’t know how to book it right. So we just gave it to someone else so we can still make ALL the money off of it & let you go”??♀️ ? https://t.co/rWVtbxOioA

The current NWA star continued, pointing out that she had nothing against Alexa Bliss (whose WWE Raw character was born of her interactions with The Fiend):-
This isn’t against Alexa. I love her. She’s an incredible performer who is killing it in a role she was given. She always does. We as artists take every role we’re given & turn it into gold. He, she, they both did that. Like it/not. Facts are facts. So sorry if that offends you.

Like so many before him this year (James included), Wyatt's release was attributed to "budget cuts" last week. This is curious, not only because WWE generated record profits in 2020 (and are projected to do so again in 2021), but also for Wyatt's merchandise-selling prowess. Though WWE presently makes a lower percentage of its revenue from wrestling fans than ever before, Bray brought money through the doors.
Let go by WWE on 15 April, James is currently readying herself for the NWA's first all-women pay-per-view, EmPowerrr, on 28 August, for which she will serve as an executive producer.
