What is going on with Miro in All Elite Wrestling?

That's been a question on the minds of many AEW viewers for much of 2022, and it's one that remains unclear as revealing new notes emerge about the the former TNT Champion's last few months.

'The Redeemer's extended absence from screens became a hot topic yet again when Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that;

"In September, they came to him...Tony Khan came to him with this idea which would go to a match on the November pay-per-view...and he didn't wanna do it. It involved...some people...a lot of the people coming from WWE are leery...about doing jobs. And it becomes very difficult to book when you don't really want to do programmes where you're going to lose."

In response, Miro tweeted Meltzer directly, asking "what happened between January and June?"

Nobody's really being asked to read between the lines here - Meltzer's reporting makes it fairly clear that Miro would have had something to do for Full Gear had he not wanted to, while Miro's reply indicates that this scenario doesn't apply to the first six months of the year. The outcome remains the same - one of the company's breakout stars in 2021 has remained something of a marginalised figure this year.

That all this comes just days after Miro's wife CJ Perry noted "we know that everyone always returns back to WWE at some point" in an interview with 92.7 May, leading most to assume that a switch back for the 'Bulgarian Brute' has at very least been discussed at home.

Miro has wrestled just four times this calendar year, with his last bout taking place at September's All Out pay-per-view. A hamstring injury kept him out of action following a loss to Bryan Danielson at Full Gear 2021 and into early 2022, but he'd previously commented that the injury had nothing to do with his absence for much of the year.

The character hasn't been used in any capacity since a "Belt The Redeemer" promo that aired shortly after the trios match. That wasn't followed up on, and he hasn't been advertised for any remaining shows this year.
