Mistrial In Jeff Jarrett Lawsuit Against Anthem Entertainment
Original verdict vacated, trial begins fresh in September.
Jeff Jarrett's lawsuit against Impact's parent company, Anthem Entertainment, has ended in a mistrial.
Double J began litigation against Anthem over their non-consensual use of his Global Force Footage after he left IMPACT in 2017. After numerous delays for their meeting in court owing to the ongoing global health crisis, this Thursday Anthem filed for a mistrial. Reports from PW Insider suggest the company submitted a 50-page request to the United States District Court of the Middle District of Tennessee, in a bid to have the process begin afresh.
The basis for Anthem's request comes from the belief that Jarrett's lawyer prejudiced the jury by noting Ed Nordheim's absence during 20 July's proceedings, in addition to mentioning liabilities in closing arguments despite the insistence of the court to do otherwise.
It's understood Chief Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw accepted their plea, meaning this legal battle will begin afresh come September. The verdict of the original trial, which found in favour of Jarrett, has been vacated, and the jury dismissed
The two parties still have a chance to negotiate a settlement before a new jury convenes this September.
