The Brazilian fighter shared his thoughts on an Instagram story, tagging Tony Khan and Chatri Sityodtong, CEO of ONE Championship, the MMA organisation Belfort is currently signed to. One Championship also shared a photo on its Instagram account of Belfort at the event with AEW star Brodie Lee.

Belfort is one of the true pioneers of the sport of mixed martial arts, making his debut all the way back in 1997 aged just 19, before going on to sign with the UFC.

In a globe-trotting career as a professional fighter, Belfort has earned a reputation as one of the most devastating strikers in the history of MMA, having scored 18 knockouts from his 26 wins against the likes of Michael Bisping, Dan Henderson, and Randy Couture.

AEW has proven to be interested in signing athletes from the world of combat sports, with British Olympic bronze medal-winning boxer Anthony Ogogo becoming the company's first developmental wrestler when he penned terms in October of last year.
