More details have emerged following the announcement that Impact Wrestling World Champion Tessa Blanchard had been stripped of her title and released earlier this week. Blanchard had been scheduled to defend her belt at the upcoming Slammiversary pay-per-view until the company released a statement on Thursday revealing that her contract had been "terminated".

A report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Blanchard missed a pair of Impact Wrestling tapings as she was reluctant to leave Mexico where she is currently self-isolating with her partner, AAA star Daga. The report also suggests that she was unwilling to leave the country until after the pair's wedding this summer due to worries that she would be unable to return amidst the current global situation.

Additional reports state that Blanchard had refused to send in promo and interview videos when asked, forcing Impact to drastically change its entire June 1 episode.

Blanchard made history earlier this year when she defeated Sami Callihan at Hard To Kill to become the first-ever female Impact World Champion. However, where the third-generation star goes next is hard to say, particularly after several wrestlers accused her of racist abuse earlier this year.
