The Motor City Machine Guns, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, made a dramatic return to Impact at last night's Slammiversary pay-per-view, answering the open challenge of Wentz and Dez of the Rascalz.

Naturally, the returning heroes won on their comeback.

This isn't just a one-off for a team which lit up the company between 2007 and 2012; after the show, Impact announced that they will challenge the indomitable North for their tag team championships on this week's episode of their flagship show.

This is the first time the pair, who first began teaming way back in 2006, have worked alongside one another since 2018, when they faced The Young Bucks and Roppongi 3K at ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds. Sabin had all but retired after enduring a nasty ACL tear in Ring Of Honor last January, and had since took up a producer role in Impact.

In the weeks leading up to Slammiversary, the former TNA tag team champs had each teased an appearance at the event. Similarly, Impact themselves had promised a host of "former world champions" for the show.

And they delivered. In addition to the Motor City Machine Guns, ex-stars returning to the Impact Zone included former Grand Slam winner Eric Young, and two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion EC3.
