Netflix Cancels GLOW Ahead Of Season 4
The popular wrestling-themed show has bitten the dust.
The ongoing global health crisis has claimed GLOW.
As originally reported by Deadline, Netflix has cancelled the wrestling-based show ahead of its fourth season, with COVID-19 the apparent cause.
"COVID has killed actual human begins. It's a national tragedy and should be our focus," said GLOW creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch in an official statement. "COVID also apparently took down our show."
“Netflix has decided not to finish filming the final season of GLOW. We were handed the creative freedom to make a complicated comedy about women and tell their stories. And wrestle. And now that’s gone," they added. "There’s a lot of sh*tty things happening in the world that are much bigger than this right now. But it still sucks that we don’t get to see these 15 women in a frame together again.”
Production of GLOW's fourth season was halted around three weeks into filming, with one full episode completed by March. Netflix had decided to renew it back in August 2019.
Based on the old Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling promotion, GLOW debuted in June 2017 and starred the likes of Brie Larson, Betty Gilpin, Marc Maron, and Kia Stevens (TNA/AEW's Awesome Kong).
