New AEW Trademark Hints That "Released" Star Is Staying?

Maybe this reportedly-released AEW wrestler is staying put in Tony Khan's company.

AEW just renewed the trademark on "House Of Black".

Tony Khan's company filed for the trademark on 8 September, and Fightful reports they did so for merchandise purposes - the filing covers merch items like "beanies/hats and shirts/t-shirts". This is especially interesting, because concurrent reports claim that Malakai Black (the group's leader) is on his way out of AEW.

Reports have admittedly been rather varied when it comes to Black. Some claimed that he was denied his release, whereas others say he's taking an extended hiatus to deal with unknown personal circumstances. Whatever the truth, it is rather intriguing that All Elite has filed to take ownership of "House Of Black".

Perhaps, even if Malakai does depart, both Buddy Matthews and Brody King will continue with the gimmick. Or, maybe Tony Khan has an inventory of unsold HOB shirts that he'd like to cash in on before they become yesterday's news.

That's all guesswork. For now, all that's known is that Black's AEW future is very-much up in the air and Khan has filed for the "House Of Black" trademark. This is one well-worth keeping an eye on.
