Controversial pro-wrestling lightning rod Jim Cornette left the National Wrestling Alliance after sparking shock with comments made on this week's episode of Powerrr, resigning from the legendary promotion the very next day.

The widely discussed story has made all kinds of headlines in recent days and this looks set to continue, as Dave Meltzer has come through with new information in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing that Cornette refused to apologise for the comment.

This was apparently the NWA's real issue with the matter, as Vice President Dave Lagana blamed himself for not catching the remark during the editing process. Meltzer notes that several people within the NWA weren't happy that Corny had "become so anti-AEW on his podcast" as, per his writeup, they felt his "over-the-top criticisms" of a product with a similar fanbase to Powerrr weren't a good look.

On top of all this, it has been suggested that Cornette was already on thin ice with the organisation prior to this, having "received several strikes from management" already.

Cornette remains bullish on the matter on social media. He has promised to comment on the situation on today's Jim Cornette Experience podcast recording, which should be an interesting listen no matter where you stand on this matter.
