Tessa Blanchard remains one of the most talented free agents left in professional wrestling, having spent close to six months on the market after leaving Impact Wrestling as World Champion in June, only working a single bout (for Warrior Wrestling in September) in this time window.

As the two biggest promotions in America, WWE and AEW have both been mentioned as potential landing sites for the 25-year-old. Don't expect her to sign with the latter any time soon, though: Tony Khan and co. reportedly decided against pursuing Blanchard a while ago.

This is according to Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He writes that while nobody within AEW would deny her talent and everyone there understands the value she could potentially bring (given the state of AEW's women's division), when Tessa's name came up, AEW officials didn't want to chase her.

Tessa's 2020 has been riddled with controversy. This began with allegations of racism stemming back several years in January, with multiple voices coming to the forefront, and continued in June, when Impact let her go for reportedly failing to submit remote video content while self-isolating in Mexico. Sources stated that Impact let Tessa go out of fear of her no-showing their Slammiversary pay-per-view.
