Bron Breakker is the new NXT Champion, having defeated Tommaso Ciampa at least night's New Year's Evil special.

The 24-year-old successfully unseated Ciampa at the second time of asking. Having previously fallen to the WWE stalwart back in October 2021, Breakker outdid his rival in a brisk, bruising encounter that saw Bron dive into his lineage on several occasions, including coming off the middle rope with his father Rick Steiner's signature flying bulldog.

In the end, Ciampa was forced to submit after being locked in the Steiner Recliner.

Tommaso's second reign as WWE NXT Champion ended on 112 days. Installed as a vanguard-like champion following Samoa Joe vacating the belt in September, Ciampa mounted one successful defence during his spell on top of the revamped developmental brand, which was the aforementioned Breakker match in October. Bron, meanwhile, captured the gold in just the ninth televised match of his WWE career.

While Breakker's father Rick didn't appear on camera during the show, he was in attendance for the occasion and joined Bron in the ring after New Year's Evil had gone off the air.

The night's other title fights saw Carmelo Hayes unify the North American and Cruiserweight Titles against Roderick Strong, while Mandy Rose successfully defended the Women's Title against Cora Jade and Raquel Gonzalez.
