New TNA: 5 Things That Work (And 5 That Don't)

By Chris Quicksilver /

3. Josh Matthews & Taz

TNA€™s announce team are miles better than WWE€™s. Fact. In truth, it was that way even before the changeover. Veteran announcer Mike Tenay called matches with knowledge, a cheeky sense of humour and, above all, a glowing respect for the sport of pro wrestling, whilst Taz added an ever-welcome wrestler€™s perspective to proceedings. Many TNA fans were sad to see Tenay go, but Destination America obviously wanted a younger, better looking play-by-play man. Josh Matthews may not have a huge amount of wrestling pedigree, but he is sincere, respectful and eloquent enough to make it work. If one were feeling critical, he might say that Matthews occasionally lacks passion, but, to be more complementary, he also has good chemistry with Taz and the pair seems to genuinely enjoy working together.
