LA Knight is the new WWE Million Dollar Championship, having defeated Cameron Grimes to become the first person to hold the belt since November 2010.

Having spent the past few weeks feuding to earn Ted DiBiase's respect, Knight and Grimes threw down in a ladder match at NXT TakeOver: In Your House last night, with the Million Dollar Title suspended above the ring in a glass box. Knight scored the victory after shoving Grimes from a ladder and throw a propped-up ladder on the outside, allowing him to climb up and grab the case.

DiBiase, a regular on NXT television throughout this program, was on-hand at ringside, presenting Knight with his new prize after the bell. Whether or not he remains a fixture on the black and gold brand beyond this storyline remains to be seen.

The Million Dollar Championship was last active in WWE in 2010, when it was held by the Million Dollar Man's son, Ted DiBiase Jr. Its history goes back to February 1989, when Ted Sr. introduced it as a result of his inability to win or buy the WWE Championship.

Its initial run lasted until February 1992 before WWE brought it back for the DiBiase-managed 'Ringmaster' Steve Austin in 1995.
