New WWE Writer Says She 'Wasn't Required' To Know Anything About Wrestling
One of WWE's new writers thinks that Bobby Lashley's name is "Bobby Ashley".
A new WWE writer has told the 'Asian Not Asian' podcast that the company didn't require her to know "anything" about wrestling before signing a deal.
Kenice Mobley told the pod that she will be posted on Raw. When asked to detail her knowledge of the industry, Kenice called current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley the wrong name and said she knew he hung around with guys who called themselves The Hurt Business.
Mobley called Lashley "Bobby Ashley". Yikes.
The writer, who has a background in both film production and comedy writing, said WWE's approach was very much "come on in" when they learned that she knew next-to-nothing about pro wrasslin'. That will worry some, but it's hardly out of character for Vince McMahon and crew to hire creative team members who don't know a thing about the biz.
Kenice admitted that she "really should know" what the reigning WWE Champion on Monday nights is called though. She'll learn - even so, it's odd that having a complete lack of product knowledge is somehow considered a positive amongst upper management.
A friend also asked Mobley if working for WWE was "diminishing [her] dignity".
