Even since his initial tryout as a producer last year, many fans have hoped that Nick Aldis will finally get a chance to wrestle for WWE. And now, the current SmackDown General Manager has moved to addressed that particular topic.

Speaking to Mail Online, Aldis' response to whether he'll lace up his boots and compete in a WWE ring was how he'll "cross that bridge if I come to it".

As the former two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion put it:

"Anything is possible in the WWE. I deeply appreciate all of the fans, who keep me alive in that regard, who want to see me in the ring with this person or that person. Since my interaction with Roman [Reigns], that started a whole different conversation in that regard. I'm just grateful that there's an interest in it. I'm fully committed to being the best General Manager of all time, so I'll cross that bridge if I come to it."

Continuing on, Aldis stated how he's "very confident" WrestleMania will at some point take place from London, England and that he "would certainly do everything I could to be a good fit for that show".

The In-Ring Career Of Nick Aldis

For those only familiar with Nick Aldis for his ongoing WWE run, the 37-year-old has an in-ring career that dates back to 2004.

Having worked on the UK independent scene, Aldis signed with TNA in 2008, initially going by the name of Brutus Magnus, before later shortening that to simply Magnus. Remaining with the promotion until 2015, the one-time UK Gladiators star won the TNA World Title and had two runs - one with Doug Williams, one with Samoa Joe - as a TNA Tag Team Champion.

In addition to several returns to TNA/IMPACT, the Norfolk native was the inaugural World Champion of Jeff Jarrett's Global Force Wrestling, and achieved success in NOAH, Ring Ka King, and technically for NJPW.

Of course, most notably, Nick Aldis was for so long the focal point of Billy Corgan's relaunched NWA, holding the iconic NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title for a combined 1,309 days across two reigns. As the National Treasure, Aldis made himself one of the most must-see acts in the industry, carrying himself in a similar fashion to classic, classy World Champions of yesteryear such as Nick Bockwinkel and Harley Race. That run with the NWA would come to an end at the turn of 2023, with Aldis requesting his release due to being unhappy with the direction Corgan was taking the organisation.

As it stands, Aldis' recent match came last October, where he was part of a five-way bout for ACW out of Kentucky. It's also worth noting that Nick Aldis - who is also the husband of Mickie James - has battled plenty of present-day WWE names over the years, including AJ Styles, Drew McIntyre, LA Knight, Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio, Xavier Woods, Tommaso Ciampa, Bronson Reed, Joaquin Wilde, Lexis King, Wade Barrett, and famously lost the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title to Cody Rhodes, before later regaining that belt from the American Nightmare.
