AEW's Nick Jackson suffered a leg contusion while wrestling on this week's New Year's Smash special episode of Dynamite.
Per Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online, Jackson initially thought that he had broken his leg, hence why he didn't throw a Superkick in the show-closing angle. The Young Bucks ended up renewing their association with former Bullet Club partners Kenny Omega, Karl Anderson, and Doc Gallows after turning on intervening AEW roster members, throwing up Too Sweet symbols to end the night.
The New Year's Smash opener saw the Bucks teaming with SoCal Uncensored's Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian to face The Acclaimed and The Hybrid 2. Jackson's contusion happened when he put his knees up to counter Jack Evans' 630 senton, with Evans landing hard on the 31-year-old.
The good news? Nick isn't expected to need any time away from the ring, meaning he should be cleared to compete in next week's six-man tag alongside his brother Matt and Omega. There's no word on who The Elite will face yet.
Nick is currently 62 days into his first reign as an AEW World Tag Team Champion, with the Bucks defeating FTR at Full Gear in November.
