One of New Japan Pro Wrestling's most popular stars had his hotel room robbed while competing on his company's recent Music City Mayhem show in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hiromu Takahashi defeated independent standout Blake Christian at the 30 July event. When he returned to his hotel room afterwards, he found personal items and an undisclosed sum of money were missing, which he reported to the front desk.

Takahashi told Yahoo Japan:-

“I generally keep valuables with me when I am abroad, but two T-shirts, a tank top, two pairs of shorts, and a neck pillow that I had washed and hung in my room were missing. The amount of money may not be that big, but I was so pissed off that I told the front desk clerk, ‘Hey! I just got back from the show and everything is gone!”

Continuing, the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion urged fellow travellers to be "cautious" when heading abroad:-

“I had a lot of help there in filing damage reports and so on. I think people who are planning to travel abroad should be cautious. I want to remind people again that overseas travel is scary, although they may have forgotten about it due to the Corona disaster. I want people to leave important things at their hotels and not go out. But America is great.”

The 32-year-old won his fourth NJPW Best of the Super Junior tournament (and his third in a row) this June, defeating El Desperado in the finals. He was then unsuccessful in wresting the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship from rival Taiji Ishimori's clutches on the 21 June New Japan Road show.

Known for his high-risk style, colourful aesthetics, and bold personality, Takahashi has become one of NJPW's most popular wrestlers since returning from an excursion and aligning himself with Los Ingobernables de Japon in late 2016. That union exists to this day.
