NJPW Wants WWE Relationship
Was 'Alpha Vs. Omega' only the beginning?
Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega was a triumph for New Japan Pro Wrestling, and if company owner Takaaki Kidani has his way, it may not be the last time we see a wrestler typically associated with WWE competing in an NJPW ring.
Kidani was interviewed by Tokyo Sports on the back of the Wrestle Kingdom 12 pay-per-view's enormous success, stating that he'd be more than open to forging a working relationship with Vince McMahon's promotion. 'Alpha vs. Omega' succeeded way beyond his expectations, and that he'd love more WWE talent to come to NJPW in Jericho-esque fashion, nothing that there's little hostility between the companies at the moment.
Fans shouldn't get too excited at the prospect of a potential talent share, though. Kidani also stated that as NJPW's prosperity grows, the company will be able to pay more money to wrestlers, and they'll keep chasing the world's top stars until "the other side" says "let's get along."
Regardless, this is quite the turnaround for a man who declared war on WWE in the wake of Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles' 2016 defections, and has recently overseen an aggressive United States expansion, continuing with March 25th's Strong Style Evolved show in Long Beach, California.
