NJPW's Tama Tonga Calls AEW A "Midcard Company"

Bullet Club barbs continue as NJPW's Tama Tonga takes aim at AEW and Kenny Omega.

One week removed from a condescending promo in which Don Callis claimed to not know the names of New Japan Pro Wrestling's current Bullet Club lineup after AEW Dynamite, Tama Tonga has responded with shots at Callis, Kenny Omega, and AEW as a whole.

Here's what Tonga had to say on the most recent episode of his Tama's Island podcast (h/t Fightful for the transcription):-

"I'm not understanding which path they are coming from because KENTA shows up on AEW, smacks around Jon Moxley, Kenny approaches him and is like, 'Brother Switchblade didn't tell me you were coming.' KENTA tells him to 'shut the f*ck up.' KENTA ain't no bi*ch. He's loyal. The following week, you do a press conference set-up like New Japan. Nobody is talking but Don Callis. Good Brothers stay silent, Omega slouched over like a lost child. Machine Gun had to comfort him. Don Callis says Jay White can't pull in money. Now you taking shots at Jay White? A week before, you were calling him Brother Switchblade. Make up your damn mind. You apologize but then take shots. It's like you're retreating and shooting as you run away. That's b*tch sh*t. If I was the Bootleg Club, I'd curl up too. The defeat in Kenny Omega's eyes. I'm glad Machine Gun stayed silent. The other hoot, calling us scabs and midcards. Kenny Omega is in a midcard company. Wednesday Night Wars. It's AEW and NXT. It's a minor league war. Raw vs. Nitro was on a different level. This ain't that."

Add "midcard company" to "Bootleg Club" on Tonga's growing list of barbs for Omega, whose new group is informed by his and the Good Brothers' shared past in NJPW.

The verbiage and frequency of responses give the impression that something is in the works here. AEW and NJPW opening the forbidden door may not be tantamount to a floodgate at the moment, given the ongoing global health crisis' myriad travel restrictions, but it's unlikely that the two sides would be getting into it (Don's promo went out on official AEW channels) like this if they weren't working.

We await Callis and Omega's potential response on tonight's Dynamite.
