Big WWE plans may be afoot for Ciampa, who was crowned number one contender to the company's United States Championship on last night's Raw.

Fightful Select reported prior to the show that the former NXT Champion had been discussed as somebody whose presentation may be enhanced under Triple H's leadership as WWE's new creative lead. Ciampa is considered a potential beneficiary of Triple H's ascension, having worked closely with 'The Game' during his six-year developmental run.

The 37-year-old being positioned in more matches that'd allow him to highlight his in-ring capabilities was reported to be part of this new presentation. Talk of Ciampa going back to his old NXT theme was unconfirmed at the time of reporting, however.

Ciampa was paired with The Miz shortly after joining WWE's Raw roster in April. Per Fightful, the former 'Sicilian Psychopath' has drawn praise for his work alongside the main roster veteran, bringing a "great" demeanour and strong work ethic to everything creative has handed him.

Next week's Raw will see Ciampa challenge Bobby Lashley for the US Title after winning twice last night. First, Ciampa triumphed over Chad Gable in a Dolph Ziggler in a Triple Threat, advancing to face fellow victor AJ Styles in a contendership bout, after which he had his hand raised.
