NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler vs. Candice LeRae is the first WWE match to be made official for when the Wednesday night war with AEW kicks in on 2 October.

LeRae earned her opportunity in last night's USA Network debut, with her, Bianca Belair, Mia Yim, and Io Shirai opening the show with a number one contendership match. An explosive, adrenaline-packed affair concluded with Shirai getting thrown to the floor on top of Belair, Candice hitting a top-rope poison 'Rana on Yim, then nailing a Lionsault for the 1, 2, 3.

Baszler then emerged with Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shaffir, prompting a faceoff with LeRae at the top of the ramp. The match was later confirmed for 2 October.

So Baszler vs. LeRae is officially going head to head with The Elite vs. Chris Jericho and his two mystery partners and Cody vs. Sammy Guevara in a couple of weeks. More bouts will surely be announced over the coming days.

WWE have also confirmed two big rematches for next week's NXT, with Matt Riddle and Killian Dain squaring off in another Street Fight, and Keith Lee vs. Dominik Dijakovic going head-to-head in a big, beefy battle.
