Woe betides any WWE employee who might try to tell Tommaso Ciampa he's heading for the main roster any time in the future, because the former NXT Champion isn't interested.

Ciampa's immediate and long-term wrestling future was a big topic of discussion during a recent appearance on Lilian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast. The interview saw the 'Blackheart' claim that not only had he fought WWE's previous attempt at planting him on the main roster, but also that he has "vocalised to them that if I have to go to Raw or SmackDown, I'm going to retire to become a producer or coach."

Elaborating on the matter, Tommaso said that a main roster run wouldn't be worth what it would cost him and his family, adding that he doesn't feel like his surgically-repaired body would handle the brutal road schedule.

Ciampa comes from an understandable place. The man has only recently returned to prominence after major neck surgery, would be jumping from NXT's relaxed schedule to travelling four-to-six days a week, and would be hamstrung by the same problems as everyone else on Raw or SmackDown.

Tommaso was previously brought to the main roster alongside Johnny Gargano, Aleister Black, and Ricochet in February, but ultimately returned to NXT following his neck surgery.
