NXT Star Set For WWE Call-Up?
Candice LeRae being groomed for live events.
PWInsider has reported that NXT's Candice LeRae may soon be set to bypass husband Johnny Gargano onto WWE's main roster, as the company is apparently preparing to use her on upcoming Live Events.
LeRae, who made a cameo appearance during this years women's Royal Rumble, is currently being considered to work the SmackDown house show loop. Presumably, the plan is for her to bolster the brand's singles roster, what with Becky Lynch positioned opposite Charlotte, and several women partitioned into the nascent tag team division.
The Californian made sporadic appearances for NXT throughout 2017, including a stint in the Mae Young Classic, before permanently signing with the developmental territory at the start of last year. She immediately became involved in her partner's ongoing beef with Andrade Almas, serving as foil to 'La Sombra's valet Zelina Vega.
Since then, she has been used relatively infrequently in Full Sail. In recent weeks, LeRae has expressed distaste towards Gargano's new-found friendship with long-term rival Tommaso Ciampa - which could instigate a split ahead of a main roster call-up in the near future.
LeRae put in a decent showing at the Royal Rumble, lasting just over nine minutes before eventually being dumped by Ruby Riott.
