NXT TakeOver Toronto: 10 Awesome Moments

10. WWE's Tribute To Toronto And Canada

It shouldn't be lost on anybody that Survivor Series weekend is happening in Canada this year. Longtime fans will never forget the 1997 iteration of the event, one infamous for including the now-legendary 'Montreal Screwjob'. Corey Graves was quick to draw attention to this on commentary at NXT TakeOver: Toronto.

WWE simply cannot enter Canada without talk of the screwjob, mainly because it exists as one of the promotion's most memorable moments in the country. Thankfully, there are others, and the typically-brilliant production team wanted to highlight some of them during TakeOver's grand opening.

The video packages WWE create for pay-per-view events always sparkle, even more so when they acknowledge history. WrestleMania VI in the SkyDome was mentioned, sitting alongside the 1997 Survivor Series in WWE's scrapbook of memories.

Overall, the opening montage put over Canada's impact on the organisation extremely well. Deftly, the production crew then switched to talk of how NXT would forge a new path. This is a strongpoint with the brand, management always make sure to put it over.
