Pat McAfee Signs Long-Term WWE Contract Extension
SmackDown announcer signs multi-year WWE contract extension after of Happy Corbin match.
Pat McAfee has pledged his services to WWE for another few years.
As confirmed by the promotion on Thursday, the SmackDown announcer has signed a "multi-year extension" with the pro wrestling market leaders.
The promotion announced:-
STAMFORD, Conn., July 7, 2022 – WWE today announced that Pat McAfee has signed a multiyear extension with WWE. Since April 2021, McAfee has served as an analyst, alongside Michael Cole, for Friday Night SmackDown at 8 pm ET live each week on FOX. The new pact will see McAfee entertaining the WWE Universe for years to come. Earlier this year, McAfee delighted fans and lit up social media with a WrestleMania debut for the ages at AT&T Stadium in Dallas when battling Theory, Mr. McMahon, and even getting stunned by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
McAfee has served as SmackDown's colour commentator alongside long-serving announcer Michael Cole since April 2021. Cole was quick to react to news of his colleague's extension:-
After 25 years in “the booth,” working with @PatMcAfeeShow is the highlight of each week. His excitement is contagious (even if he almost kicks me when standing on our table) and has helped revitalize my love for our business! @WWE, our fans, and I are lucky to have him! https://t.co/RSXPh2F6mh

WWE, meanwhile, is "thrilled" to have tied McAfee down for a longer term. WrestleVotes reported the following on Thursday:-
I’m told the Pat McAfee extension was signed a few weeks back, to the thrill of everyone involved. WWE knows exactly what they have in McAfee and were steadfast on making sure they kept him around. Good job on them.

Pat is currently booked to wrestle Happy Corbin at SummerSlam 2022 on 30 July. This will be the broadcaster and former NFL punter's fifth WWE match to date, with his last being a poorly-received defeat to Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 38 (immediately following an extremely well-received one vs. Theory).
