Former Pittsburgh Pirates man Rinku Singh set for huge career change?
WWE recently headed to Dubai for a four-day tryout as part of their ongoing international recruitment efforts, with more than 30 athletes in attendance. Among them was Rinku Singh, a former professional baseball player previously signed to the MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates.
Singh was the first ever Indian to join an MLB team, and won the opportunity after being discovered as part of 2008's Million Dollar Arm reality TV competition. A left-handed pitcher, he returned to India after missing the 2014 and 2015 MLB seasons through injury, and WWE have posted a video of him taken from the tryouts:-
Now a free agent, Singh's baseball career is at a standstill. He lasted two seasons with Pittsburgh prior to joining West Virginia Power (the Pirates' minor league affiliate) before injuries took a toll, with a broken elbow effectively ending his pitching career.
Singh's story was given the big screen treatment in 2014's Million Dollar Arm, and he has cited his countryman The Great Khali as an inspiration. There's no word on whether or not he has been signed by WWE, but the video's publication is encouraging.
