WWE bringing British independent wrestling promotions to the Network has been rumoured ever since their United Kingdom Championship project was announced in December 2016, but it may finally be on the verge of happening.

This is according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who wrote yesterday that while talks have gone quiet several times over the past 18 months, they're finally be back on track, and an announcement may be forthcoming as soon as WWE's upcoming Royal Albert Hall shows (June 18th & 19th).

ICW and PROGRESS are the promotions in question. These companies established working relationships with WWE prior to last year's UK Championship Tournament, resulting in increased exposure for both, as well as notable talent loans (NXT's Kassius Ohno recently appeared in PROGRESS' Super Strong Style 16 tournament).

Barely a quarter passes without this exact story re-surfacing, so skepticism is understandable. Still, with ITV recently reviving their World Of Sport project, it'd make sense for WWE to aggressively pursue their own British content, and with the UK Championship Tournament returning in June, PROGRESS and ICW shows would be nice additions to the Network's expanding library.
