Randy Orton will battle Sheamus in one on one action at this Sunday's WWE Battleground event. Sheamus, who holds the Money in the Bank briefcase, has had issues with Orton dating back to last month's Money in the Bank PPV, so it's no surprise that it will lead to a match at Battleground. They have wrestled many times in the past from when they were top stars on Smackdown back when the brand extension was still a thing and most recently had a match on the June 8 edition of Raw that ended in a no contest. The story going into this match is that the two former multi-time World Champions have been a part of a physical rivalry to see who the better man is. It's being done likely to put over Sheamus as a crafty heel that is willing to do anything to get the win. If Orton beats him then it's similar to his feud with Seth Rollins earlier in the year when he beat him while he was Mr. Money in the Bank too. It's a rivalry that has been booked evenly so far and it wouldn't be a surprise if they had another match at SummerSlam too. The other matches announced for Battleground are: WWE Championship: Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar United States Championship: John Cena vs. Kevin Owens Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt Intercontinental Championship: Ryback vs. Big Show vs. The Miz Tag Team Championships: The Prime Time Players vs. The New Day Other expected matches for Battleground are Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev and Nikki Bella vs. Paige or perhaps a tag match for the divas. There should be more announcements for Battleground on Raw including new matches and stipulations added to current matches as well.
