Ranking Every Woman To Have Held The WWE NXT Women's Championship
2. Shaya Baszler
The faithful fans of NXT just love to hate Shayna Baszler, which is just one of the many reasons why she's been an outstanding NXT Women's champion so far.
Another is how exceptionally well she plays her role as the bully heel. With a decorated career in mixed martial arts, she's a believable badass and has proven she can make her opponents tap (or snap) with ease.
Therefore, it shouldn't at all have come as a surprise that she challenged for the NXT Women's Championship within weeks of her NXT debut. She beat Ember Moon for the belt at TakeOver: New Orleans but dropped it to Kairi Sane a mere four months later before she could find her footing as champion.
Thankfully, she redeemed herself by regaining the gold at Evolution soon after with help from her fellow Four Horsewomen, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.
Exactly one year later, it's hard to argue against her being among the best NXT Women's champion to date, and not just because she's held the gold for so long.
The quality of the matches she's had while in possession of the title with the likes of Sane, Io Shirai, Bianca Belair, Mia Yim and Candice LeRae have been more consistent than any other NXT Women's champion. The nearfalls are always suspenseful because fans want nothing more than for her to lose, adding to the aura she has as the division's most dominant force when she wins.
More importantly, when she inevitably loses it to someone (unlike Asuka), it's bound to be a major moment.
